his story started with a very humble beginning
Martin was born in a small town called Langenburg, Germany. Ironically, it is the place where the Wibele – small, sweet, biscuit-like pastries – were invented and are still baked today. Martin was the second eldest of four children. From a young age Martin had taken the responsibility of helping around the house. His Mum and Grandma were fantastic cooks and Martin loved to watch and learn from them. Martin would pull a chair over to the table to stand on, so he could watch how his Mum and Grandma prepared delicious meals every day. Martin has a great respect and appreciation in the blessing from his mother and father who instilled a great work ethic in him both personally and professionally.
Unlike most teenagers Martin was sure what his future career would be. Martin wrote as part of his school project, “I want to be a head chef on a cruise ship”; he was only seven years of age. His Mum kept it and remains tucked safely away in their family home in Germany. At the age of thirteen and four years before Martin left school he began to train as a kitchen hand on the weekends. When he finished school, Martin began his apprenticeship as a pastry chef in a very famous pastry café 20 km away from his home.
Martin was full of ambition and his next position took him to Switzerland to Hotel Regina, one of the leading hotels in the world where Martin was to become top pastry chef.
Martin soon became a highly experienced pastry chef with a world-renowned master’s degree from Europe.
Another key moment in Martins life was just around the corner, this time on the Worlds Oceans. His dream as a young boy was now a reality. Martin had accepted an offer to join Hapag-Lloyd Cruises on board the 5-stars cruise ship “EUROPA” as Pastry Chef. Martin’s distinctive creations of elegance and sophistication style would dazzle and deliver taste sensations that colleagues and passengers would rave about for a long time afterwards. Not bad for a boy who started with nothing but a mission to find his special gift.
To realise his next dream Martin moved to Australia to continue his ambition of bringing the finest quality desserts from across the globe, here to Australia.

Master Sweets proudly holds a 5 Star Eat Safe Gold Coast rating. Our ‘star rating’ is based on an assessment of our food management practices. In short this means we are an excellent performer and fully compliant with the Food Act 2006 and overall very high standard of food safety management practices. You can also relax knowing that Master Sweets purpose-built factory is HACCP certified. This means your products are being produced in an Australian Food Safety Accredited premises. Our Gelatine Supplier holds a Halal accreditation from the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils. We emphasis on all food safe practices as we believe that all quality products start with the fundamentals of our products being manufactured under the most stringent and rigorous process.
Master Sweets is extremely proud of our achievement to supply desserts to The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. This was the largest sporting event Australia has seen this decade and the biggest sporting spectacular the Gold Coast has ever seen. It was a great opportunity for Master Sweets to showcase our finest dessert range to more than 6,600 athletes and team officials from 71 Commonwealth nations.
